Gandhiv Kafle

 M. Sc. in Watershed Management, B. Sc. Forestry, I. Sc. Biology
 

Mr. Gandhiv Kafle came to earth in 1980 at Gorkha district in mid-hills of Nepal. He completed his school life from the village school. Then he completed I.Sc. Biology, B.Sc. Forestry and M.Sc. Watershed Management from Tribhuvan University of Nepal.

 

In recognition of Mr. Kafle's work on wetland research and conservation in Nepal, he has been appointed as Country Designate of Society of Wetland Scientists Asia Chapter for the Kingdom of Nepal in 2008. He is also an affiliate member of IUCN/SSC Otter Specialist Group and a member of IUCN/SSC Threatened Waterbird Specialist Group. He is President/Global Coordinator of Wetland Friends of Nepal network. He has been working in LI-BIRD NGO. He is the sub-editor of Journal of Wetlands Ecology. He has experience of teaching and thesis supervision of graduates in Institute of Forestry Pokhara on natural resource management.

 

Mr. Kafle is more interested in research and publication on wetlands and associated biodiversity. He comes with experience of working in different projects related to biodiversity conservation.

Mr. Kafle's expertise is on: Freshwater Ecology; Integrated Lake/River Basin Management; EcoHealth (Ecosystem Approach to Human Health); Otter Research

 

His current interest focuses on: a) identification of wetland sites in Nepal in which otters are present; b) ethnozoology of bats; c) assessment of land use transition and human health (eco-health approach); d) conservation agroforestry

Mr. Regmi is a founder and president of Global Primate Network-Nepal. He completed his M. Sc. (Zoology) from Tribhuvan University in 2006. He has been working in the field of wildlife research and conservation in Nepal focusing on mammals. His special interests also include in avian, mammal and amphibian research and conservation.
